It has been over a month since we witnessed one of the greatest comebacks in NFL history. Tom Brady and the Patriots were down and out 28-3 in the 3rd quarter before coming back to win 34-28 in overtime.
One month on and it seems clear that the Patriots will successfully defend the Super Bowl and win it against in Minneapolis, Minnesota next year.
This year’s free agency has been very good for New England and one person that will be very happy is Tom Brady. With the acquisition of Brandin Cooks from New Orleans and Dwayne Allen from the Colts to replace Martellus Bennett who is off to Green Bay, Tom Brady has enough fire power to lead the team to yet another AFC Championship title and another Super Bowl appearance.
Right now, Brady’s options consist of:
- Julian Edelman
- Danny Amendola
- Chris Hogan
- Rob Grownkowski
- Brandin Cooks
- Dwayne Allen
- Malcom Mitchell
- Dion Lewis
- James White
That is a lot of star power and with the addition of Rex Burkhead who looked dominant in the one game he played last season for the Cincinnati Bengals, the Patriots are surely the number one favourite to win their 6th Super Bowl title.
On the defence, the Patriots managed to re-sign LB Dont’a Hightower to a 4 year $43 million dollar deal which is a huge boost. They’ve also added CB Stephon Gilmore from the Buffalo Bills as well DL Lawrence Guy.
This has been an unusual free agency period for the Patriots but it also means business and teams should be very worried when they face them next year.
