A world class display sees Liverpool go to the top of the table for the first time since May 2014.
After a convincing win against Crystal Palace, Liverpool turned their attention towards Watford who had kept a clean sheet in their last 3 games. That record was no more as Liverpool put 6 past Watford in a brilliant performance.
Saido Mane put the reds 1-0 within 27 minutes with a header after a cross from Coutinho and they added a second a few minutes later through the magician Coutinho. Emre Can added a 3rd in the 43rd minute of the game after a beautiful cross from Adam Lallana. Liverpool could’ve easily had 4 or 5 in the first half.
Watford GK Heurelho Gomes was forced off with an injury midway through the first half with substitute keeper Pantilimon making his debut for the hornets.
It was more of the same in the second half for Liverpool as they kept piling on the pressure. Liverpool’s 4th goal came from Roberto Firmino after Adam Lallana had squared the ball into the 6 yard box.
3 minutes later Saido Mane added his second of the game. A sublime pass from Henderson towards Firmino allowed the Brazilian to take on Holebas and set up Mane for Liverpool’s 5th of the night.
Just as Liverpool were steering to their second clean sheet of the season, the reds defence broke down when Daryl Jaanmat added a consolation goal in the 75th minute.
Substitute Daniel Sturridge also had chances to score but both efforts had hit the cross bar. Sturridge is still looking for his first goal of the BPL season and he should’ve had it against Watford.
A 6th goal was added from Gini Wijnaldum who scored his first Liverpool goal to take Liverpool to the top of the table.
Overall, it was a dominating performance from the reds who go into the international break with momentum.
