Lets start off with defending Super Bowl Champions Denver Broncos. They came into week 5 undefeated with a 4-0 record having defeated Carolina and Cincinnati in the process. With Peyton Manning retired, it was up to Trevor Siemian to lead the team. Through the first 4 weeks, he did that perfectly before sustaining an injury that ruled him out of Sundays game. Instead, 1st round pick Paxton Lynch took the helms.

Unfortunately things didn’t go according to plan. They were facing the in-form Atlanta Falcons who were the number one scoring offence in the NFL. The combination between Matt Ryan and Julio Jones were terrorising defences including the Carolina Panthers as Julio Jones had put up 300 yards against the Panthers defence.

Atlanta had dominated the first half of the game with RB Devonta Freeman scoring a Touchdown on a 4th & Goal. Atlanta’s defence had shut out Paxton Lynch & the Broncos during the 1st quarter as they didn’t record a single point. A field goal towards the end of the 1st quarter gave the Falcons a 10-0 lead. Denver started the 2nd quarter off with a field goal from Brandon McManus to keep the game within 1 touchdown. However, another field goal from Atlanta ensured that they went into the break with a 13-3 lead.

The games next points were scored by Atlanta as Matt Ryan threw a TD to Tevin Coleman to give the Falcons a 20-3 lead into the 4th quarter. Two more field goals were scored by Atlanta and Denver to make the game 23-6. A TD pass from Paxton Lynch to DeMariyus Thomas brought the game within 10 points but ultimately it wasn’t enough for the Broncos. A devastating defeat at home saw the Broncos move to 4-1 whilst the Falcons also moved to 4-1.
